This week in Niamh’s second class we have been learning about Diwali. We learned that it is celebrated in India. Diwali means ‘the festival of light’ .It is a very important religious celebration that takes place every year.The festival of Diwali welcomes the new year and honours the goddess Lakshmi. During the
celebration of Diwali, many homes light lots of special diya lamps. Lots of children in our class celebrate Diwali and they taught us lots about rangoli patterns and diya lamps. We made our own diya lamps with clay. We will put a candle in them to welcome Diwali and the goddess Lakshmi.
