January was a very busy month for the two 1st classes in Ashbourne ETNS! We learned all about Antarctica. We went on Google Earth and saw exactly where Antarctica is located. We looked at videos and we made fact files of animals to find out how they survive in Antarctica. We even did a ‘blubber experiment’ with zip lock bags and butter, to explore how blubber works in order for penguins to survive the freezing weather in Antarctica. We also learned all about the Irish Explorer Tom Crean and his journeys to Antarctica. After gathering lots of information about this part of the world, Niamh, Lynn and Sandra’s class worked extremely hard in small groups to create projects on Antarctica. This was our first time doing a group project! We are very proud of how we worked together as a team to create our projects. Take a look at our amazing work!
