We welcomed 27 eager and excited Junior Infants into Room 1 at the beginning of September. There has been lots of fun and learning taking place since their arrival 6 weeks ago!
Our Theme for September was ‘Myself’. The children loved identifying and exploring their different attributes, such as eye colour, hair colour, favourite food and so on. We are all ‘Unique’ and ‘Special’! We talked about our families, and how our families are all different and unique too!

Each week, we engage in lots of gross motor and fine motor activities to strengthen our core muscles and our hand muscles, setting us up for formal handwriting instruction in due course. We take part in station teaching activities for Early Mathematical, Phonological Awareness, and Language activities, and our role play area is ‘The Home’. We have learned and practiced the nursery rhymes ‘Humpty Dumpty’, ‘Incy Wincy Spider’ and ‘Jack and Jill’, along with plenty of nice songs and poems too.
We are actively learning through play!
