Today our school was very lucky to be able to host two of the winning Meath ladies footballers Máire O Shaugnessy and Aoibhín Cleary. Máire went around to each class in the school to show off the Brendan Martin Cup and the All star award she won as one of the top 15 players in the country. This was followed by a guard of honour from children in 1st and 5th class and a presentation, question and answer session in the hall with 6th class.
This was a huge day for all our aspiring GAA players in our school to be able to share and celebrate the success of the players from our local Donaghmore Ashbourne GAA club. This was the first time in history that the Meath ladies have won the Senior All Ireland Football final and we couldn’t be prouder of this acheievement.
