March in Katie’s Third Class

Home / March in Katie’s Third Class - April 6, 2019 , by admin

This month was a very busy month in Katie’s third class. The class completed project work based on the theme “My Favourite Author”. Every child chose their favourite author and researched the author using the school iPads. They created beautifully illustrated posters which demonstrated what they had learnt about their favourite author.

The class worked extremely hard on their projects and put a huge amount of effort into the presentation of their work. Seven children created exceptional projects and were awarded prizes for creativity, originality, effort and presentation.

Clay was explored in Visual Arts this month and each child moulded a piece of clay based on their project work. Some children created characters from a book written by their favourite author (for example, the Roly Poly Bird from The Twits) while others created significant objects from the book (for example, a cauldron from Harry Potter!).

St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated by many of the children in third class on the 17th of March. We learned about St. Patrick, who he was and the work he did in Ireland. The children created green, white and orange photo-booth props to celebrate the day.
