Newsletter 11th March 2016
I hope this newsletter finds you all well. We are coming to the end of another busy term here in Ashbourne ETNS.
1916 Celebrations/Seachtain na Gaeilge
We have a few exciting days ahead of us with lots of celebrations for Seachtain na Gaeilge and 1916 Celebrations. Everyone here in the school is busy participating in Art/Handwriting competitions, singing Irish songs and reciting Irish poems and also learning some Irish dancing. The Infant classes will be treated to a small concert of some traditional Irish Music and Dance. Children in 1st, 2nd & 3rd Class will be involved in Proclamation Day next Tuesday. All National Schools will be participating in this day. Our school will be celebrating Irish Culture through performances of songs, poetry and dance. Photographs of the celebrations will be posted on the website- www.ashbourneetns.ie
Lá Glas/School Closures
On Wednesday 16th March we will have a Lá Glas- (Green Day) Children are invited to dress up in Green clothing for the day. As this is the last day of term the school will close at 11:30 am. The school will re-open after the break on Monday 4th April at 8:15 am
St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The Parents Association have organised for the children and parents of Ashbourne ETNS to march in this year’s St Patricks Day Parade. The parade will take place on Thursday 17th March @ 2.30pm and everyone is invited to take part. The Meeting point is LIDL carpark at 2pm on Thursday. The theme is “Ireland 1916” children are encouraged to make costumes at home, wear green, face paints etc., bring whistles. Parents are also encouraged to join in on the fun and dress up!
Parents must walk alongside their children so that all children are supervised. The Parade will take no longer than an hour.
Drop off and Collection of Children
It has come to my attention that some children are being dropped to school very early in the morning. We recommend that children arrive to school no earlier than 8 o’clock this is for insurance purposes and for the safety of all children.
The Parent’s Association raised a fantastic €800 at our very first table quiz in February. It was a great success and everyone had an enjoyable evening. Thanks to all the parents and local businesses who donated wonderful prizes for the raffle.
Have a great weekend, Slán, Barbara
