Ashbourne Baseball Club
We were really lucky to get coaching visits from Frank and Feidhlim via Ashbourne Baseball Club on Tuesday of Active Week. Junior Infants, Evergreen, Senior Infants, First and Second Class all had sessions with the guys and experienced catching with the baseball glove whilst in a good stance. Frank and Feidhlim encouraged anyone interested in the sport to join them in Ashbourne Baseball Club on Thursday evenings for training where 5-12 year olds are most welcome. For more information have a look at their website Ashbourne Baseball Club Website

Gymnastics with Akaash
Following an Active Flag Committee meeting where pupils expressed an interest in having gymnastics sessions during Active Week we reached out to a local gymnastics class provider and Akash from Wave Gymnastics kindly volunteered his time to come and teach our two fourth classes a few basics. Akash stressed the importance of warming up properly and played some warm up games followed by simple jumps and poses. The class then progressed to learning how to perform a forward roll in the correct way, with the back of the neck and not the head making contact with the floor! This was followed by learning the steps involved in doing a handstand and then a cartwheel. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. Thanks to Akash for facilitating this. For any pupils interested in pursuing the further development of their gymnastic skills details on Akash’s classes can be found here Wave Gymnastics Ashbourne

Be Active ASAP 2018
Ashbourne ETNS successfully ran an 8 week Be Active After School Activity programme for the third time in 2018 for our 1st Class pupils. This is a fantastic programme which offers an hour of physical activity to pupils free of charge, with parents and teachers volunteering and working together to facilitate it. The aim is to encourage an interest and develop skills in sport in the hopes they will take up a sport outside of school.
Thanks to our parent volunteers: Fran, Lynn, Mia, Tracey, Fiona and Dee and our teacher volunteers: Katie L and Katie K, Elaine, Síofra and Caitríona.
